Willie Bohanon is a determined young man. He knows what it takes to be successful in life, having seen close family members and friends make mistake after mistake. But it’s hard to be a teenager and face life’s challenges when your closest friends struggle with setting even simple goals and working toward them.

Fortunately, Willi is surrounded by strong family, a Principal who models and values the skills necessary, and an exciting mentor! When mentor Kendal Cobb comes to speak to the kids at school, he tells them all about SWAG – Self-determination, Working hard, Ambition and Guidance, four essential traits for success.

Written and illustrated in a graphic novel style, this is the first in the author’s Urban Character Education book series. Tips in the form of a rap at the end of each tale, makes it easier for students to remember, practice, and use in their daily lives! It’s a timely lesson for pre-teens, who are reminded that they power their own success.
