Susan DeBell is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked with both adults and children. She has also worked as an Art Teacher, School Nurse, and School Counselor. A few years ago, DeBell decided to give a lesson in empathy, but to her surprise found that there were few children’s books on the subject. DeBell then decided to use her artistic training to create a children’s book entitled “How Do I Stand in Your Shoes?” From there DeBell began writing and illustrating additional books whose themes were inspired by the many wonderful children she has spoken to throughout her various careers.
DeBell is now retired from the educational system, and continues writing and illustrating new books based on issues faced by the clients she currently counsels. DeBell hopes her books will inspire children everywhere to know that they possess the unique strengths and abilities to become successful individuals and that they can make a positive difference in the world around them!
