Noel Foy

Noel Foy is a mom, grandmother, former teacher, and learning specialist who evolved into a neuroeducational consultant, anxiety/executive function coach, and author.

Commonly known as Neuro Noel, she transforms neuroscience findings into practical applications to reduce the impact of stress on learning and appeal to how the brain learns best. Traditional teaching practices often omit this critical focus and fall short of meeting the needs of many students, resulting in gaps in learning and executive function and an increase in behavioral issues or not reaching one’s true potential.

Via workshops, one-on-one coaching, author visits, and speaking engagements, Noel equips schools, families, and professionals with a toolbox of practical language, responses, and applications that lower stress and build underdeveloped skills sets and mindsets needed to maximize success and experience life-changing outcomes.

Additionally, Noel finds storytelling an approachable and playful way to tackle complex topics. Her books encourage productive change and the will to face fears through courage and friendship.

This new 15-Minute Focus: Executive Function book by Noel Foy is an excellent read for teachers and parents alike. Broken up into 5 relevant and easy to understand chapters, Noel guides educators and caregivers who identify, model and support positive EF skills to those around them.

There are a plethora of quick techniques to try with kids which are easy to implement but have a large impact value. With many reproducible worksheets and actionable steps, this book is an excellent resource for everyone experiencing or caring for someone with low EF skills.

So many skills that students need for success can be summed up in executive functioning. The majority of the “annoying” behaviors (messy desk, slow to start work, not knowing what to do next) are due to a lack of executive function. This book takes this to the next level and describes behaviors when students show executive dysfunction (issues with regulating emotions, time management, working memory, focus and more). The author explores how this looks in all subject areas, as well as socially, and provides strategies for teachers and parents that promote proper executive function for students. I especially enjoyed the chapter on the stress response in students that exhibit executive dysfunction. If you’re looking for help in this are with your students or personal kids, this is a great resource!

Noel Foy’s book provides a clear and engaging understanding of executive functioning, its impact on various aspects of life – including relationships and reading – and practical, evidence-based strategies to strengthen these skills. This is a valuable resource for educators, parents, and anyone looking to support skill development in students.
